Operation Tundra

Operation Tundra addresses the issues surrounding all aspects of road safety and aims to make our roads safer places in which to either be a driver, passenger or pedestrain. Although predominantly driven by the Road Policing, Accident Prevention and Road Safety Units all officers throughout the force have a responsibility to tackle the issues under this theme.

Some of the main functions of Operation Tundra include addressing speeding, drink/drug driving, vehicle road-worthiness and poor driving standards. However, over and above this, there is a clear emphasis on education with most of this work being carried out by the Road Safety Unit and area community constables.

Statistically, activity carried out under the banner of Operation Tundra has reduced the number of road deaths and injuries throughout the force area in the past year. It is hoped that results will continue to reflect the dynamic manner in which road policing issues are continually addressed with our roads becoming even safer places on which to be.
