Operation Overlord

Along with Operation Reassurance, Operation Overlord is the banner which may be most familair to members of the public following recent successes.

Operation Overlord addresses substance abuse and drug dealing at all levels. Members of the force Drugs Unit work closely with other forces and drugs agencies in an effort to ensure that the activity of drugs dealers operating in the force area is disrupted as much as possible.

Responding to intelligence gained from, amongst other places, public support, Drugs Unit officers operate with their colleagues in the Tactical Crime and Drugs Unit and at local stations to tackle drug suppliers ranging from street dealers to those further up the chain.

Again, the success of Operation Overlord depends on quality information being gained. Recent high profile operations have once more shown that the public are no longer willing to tolerate drug dealing in our communities and are willing to assist in ridding their areas of these unwanted criminals.

Operation Overlord will continue to respond to the public demand for action with both high profile and low-key operations being carried out involving the full range of force personnel including office based staff and special constables.
