History
The Pipes and Drums of Central Scotland Police were formed in 2006, becoming Scotland's newest police band.
The Pipes and Drums of Central Scotland Police came to fruition after a visit to the Force by a Canadian police officer in 2005. Superintendent Pat Hayes served with the Ottowa-Carlton police force and was also the Pipe Major with Ottawa Police Pipes and Drums. During his visit he met Central Scotland Police detective constable Robert Russell, a former Army piper, and their discussions turned to police pipe bands.
That prompted further discussions within Central Scotland Police about forming just such a band and it began to take shape early in 2006.
Sadly, on September 18 2005, after he had returned to Canada, Supt Hayes succumbed to pneumonia. But thanks to his visit to Central Scotland earlier that year, our own band was founded.
