Communications & Marketing

The Communications and Marketing Department plays a key role in raising public awareness of the work of Central Scotland Police.

The various sections within the department all help make communities aware of how the force is performing in all areas including making communities safer and tackling issues which have the biggest impact upon quality of life.

A major part of this work revolves around the Safer Central policing philosophy; highlighting operations and police activity in key areas such as tackling drug supply, improving road safety and reducing injuries on the roads, reducing violent crime and tackling the disproportionate fear of crime by providing reassurance messages in support of police operations and patrols.

The department is led by the Communications and Marketing Manager.

The department consists of a Media Officer, a Desktop Publishing Unit and a Web Marketing Officer.

Small pile of newspapers

The Media Officer responds to a vast range of inquiries from the press on a daily basis and supports operational policing operations or investigations. The Media Officer maintains contact with the press and other media outlets who have an important role to play in conveying police messages and appeals to the wider community audience.

Laser printer

The Desktop Publishing Unit provide a wide range of marketing materials also in support of policing operations and investigations. Output includes promotional material highlighting Safer Central activity, posters appealing form information on missing persons or crime appeals, high quality strategy and policy documents and other internal and external publications.

Web address on screen

The Web Marketing Officer is responsible for maintaining the Force website. Increasingly contact is being made with the Force via the website and it is an ideal vehicle for publishing information about the Force, its policies and strategies, as well as giving information and advice.
